Todo mundo já gravou Downtown Train — Patti Smith, Bob Seger, Rod Stewart e mais uma pá de gente — mas ninguém foi no espírito da música como o seu próprio autor, uma entidade meio maldita que atende pelo nome de Tom Waits.
Costuma incorporar em certos terreiros mal frequentados do rock, jazz, folk e blues. E atenção ao ultrapassar uma encruzilhada à noite: se aparecer algum “exu” pela frente, com alguma sorte pode ser Tom Waits para abrir os caminhos…
